Experts call Opus One the best wine in the history of California. It was born thanks to two great winemakers of the 20th century: the famous producer from Bordeaux — Baron Philip Rothschild and the equally famous Robert Mondavi from California, who implemented this joint project. The name for the wine was chosen so that it was written equally on the label in both French and English. Baron Rothschild suggested the Latin word "Opus", which composers call their works. Robert Mondavi added the word "One" to this title, which can be understood as "the first experience", but rather as "one of a kind".
