Latour fortress was founded in the 14th century and for a long time served for defense. Already in the 16th century, Montaigne can be found praising the wines of Chateau Latour. Thus, this ancient estate has been producing wine for at least 400 years.
According to the classification of Bordeaux wines in 1855, the wine Chateau Latour was classified as Premier Grand Cru Classe. This is no accident, as grapes have been grown on the territory of the current estate since the 14th century. The climate and exposure on this site are great for winemaking. This fact, as well as transferred through the centuries of winemaking traditions made the wine Chateau Latour one of the most valuable Bordeaux wines.
